RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY
Maybe you have some decay that needs to be treated, or maybe you crunched on a popcorn kernel that damaged a tooth. Either way, most problems can be fixed and teeth restored quickly and easily.
WHAT TO EXPECT
For most restorative procedures, your dentist will need to numb your mouth with a local anesthetic. Then your dentist will use modern and safe materials to create a tooth repair that will be strong, functional, and attractive. For filling of cavities, generally only one appointment is needed. For crowns, generally two appointments are needed.
WHAT ARE COMMON RESTORATIVE PROCEDURES?
If you develop a cavity, Dr. Peterson and Dr. Franklin will carefully remove the decay as conservatively as possible to maintain as much natural tooth structure as possible. Then a durable composite resin mercury-free material that matches the shade of your tooth will be used to fill the space.
Maybe your cavity is large, or an almond broke off half of your molar. At this point, it’s time to consider a crown. A crown can help restore the original integrity of the tooth. We generally create porcelain crowns that blend aesthetics and strength, leaving you with a crown that looks and feels like your natural tooth.
